Schools Community Project & Trekking, Nepal

Paradise - Our Shangri La!

Nepal is synonymous with the Himalayas but there is so much more in this beautiful country to experience. Whether it’s the tropical forest of the Terai, the intoxicating atmosphere of Kathmandu or the interesting myriad temples & stupas, teams will be met with the amazing friendliness of the Nepalese people and are sure to have an unforgetable experience.

The combination of the community project and trekking elements, gives students the opportunity to journey through Nepal and experience much of what this country has to offer.  Teams will manage many of the elements of the expedition themselves, including navigation on the trek, budget and food supplies. Teams are supported throughout by our experienced expedition leaders and our in-country team.

The community project phase not only enables us to assist in a project that directly benefits the host community, but also gives students the opportunity to really get to know what life is like living in the foothills of the Himalayas.  Teams will work on a much needed project for a local school.

Our expeditions include local interest visits, providing educational opportunities, adventure, as well as an insight into the country’s heritage, history and people and so.  These can include;

  • Rafting on the Trisuli River – from the put-in at Pokhara, teams will journey along the river, discovering exciting rapids and magnificent gorges (up to whitewater level 3)
  • Peace Pagoda – a hike to visit the pagoda for amazing views of Machapuchare and the Annapurna Massif
  • Lake Fewa – this famous, scenic lake is the second largest in Nepal
  • Tibetan Refugee Settlement – an opportunity to learn the history of the tibetan refugees that have settled here through a visit to their community information centre
  • Chitwan National Park, Terai – the country’s first national park and a designated World Heritage site. Teams will experience foot and canoe safaris on the edge of the park which allow the opportunity to view rhino, gharial and crocodile.

Our focus on development means teams lead on planning, managing food and navigation during the trek phase. Teams need to work together to successfully meet this challenge.

There is so much choice for exploring the spectacular countryside of Nepal on foot during this expedition, that the options for trekking are too numerous to list! This expedition can include a trek of 2-3 days in the Kathmandu Valley, through to a full-blown Everest View Trek. Let us know your team’s requirements and we will provide a solution that suits your team.

Expedition Project

The community project phase not only enables us to assist in a project that directly benefits the host community, but also gives students the opportunity to really get to know what life is like living in the foothills of the Himalayas.  Teams will work on a much needed project for a local school.

Every project is a collaboration, with decisions on which projects to tackle based on what the local community feel is a sustainable resolution to a problem they’ve highlighted.  Our projects benefit not only our host communities, but everyone that takes part. A true collaboration of cultures and global citizenship!

Embrace the challenge and remember the unique experience!

Our aim is to take our student teams out of their comfort zone.  Don’t expect air conditioned rooms and coaches with waitress service.  We don’t provide luxury tours, knowing from experience that real life can’t be found there.

Accommodation will be a mix of camping and hostels. We encourage all team members to get involved in every aspects of expedition life as this is an integral part of developmental expeditions. By embracing the expediton experience, students will take away memories that will last a lifetime.
