Venture South // Namibia & Botswana

Overland Trucking, Namibia & Botswana

A Journey of a lifetime!

Teams will spend the duration of this expediton journeying across Southern Africa, living from their very own overland expedition truck. During this 3000km+ journey teams will visit three countries. The team will work together to navigate from Windhoek in Namibia, through Botswana, and on to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.  They’ll camp out along the way, either in the bush or at recognised campsites.  This is truly an unforgettable expedition experience.

On route, the team will stop off to work with a local community in Botswana on a community construction project at one of the local schools. Along the journey, teams will get the opportunity to trek the remote Naukluft trail and visit a cheetah sanctuary.  This expedition gives students the opportunity to develop themselves in a huge variety of ways.  Teams are supported throughout by our experienced leaders and our in-country team. If it’s a development expedition you want, then this expedition is among the best.

The team’s journey will begin in Namibia, as they navigate south to Naukluft and the beginning of the trek. Teams will trek the Naukluft Trail thorugh the spectacluar Naukluft national park.  Trekking for 3 days, along 40km of trail.

On completion of the trek teams will journey on to climb Dune 45 near Sossusvlei and to Otjiwarongo, where they will learn about cheetahs at the Cheetah Conservation Fund. There is also a vehicle safari through Etosha National Park, during which teams will camp near one of the waterholes where, during the evening, it’s possible to view elephant, rhino and lion as they come down to drink.

The community project phase not only enables us to assist in a project that directly benefits the host community, but also gives students the opportunity to really get to know what rural Bostwana life is like.  In collaboration with local elders and our in-country team, we will identify a construction project at a local school. Every project is a partnership, with decisions on which projects to tackle based on what the local community feel is a sustainable resolution to a problem they’ve highlighted.

After the project, the team will journey on to the Chobe National Park, Botwana’s first and most biologically diverse national park. This is one of the best places in Africa to see elephants, with the population estimated to be one of the largest.  The park is also home to lion, hippo, jackal, cheetah and warthog.

The final part of the team’s journey will see them travel into Zimbabwe where they will spend their last day at Victoria Falls, considered to be the one of the worlds largest waterfalls.

Here the team will have the chance to  visit the 108 metre high thunderous falls, learn about the interesting geography and history of the falls, and have some well earned relaxation, before making the journey home.

Embrace the challenge and remember the unique experience!

Prepare for an experience that will push your team’s boundaries! This is an expedition in the truest sense of the word.  The team will work together to manage everything they do on the journey, from cooking to budget management.

Team members are encouraged to take part in all aspects of expedition life and will, at times, be outside their comfort zone. This is an integral part of developmental expeditions and gives the students the opportunity to grow as a person, surprise themselves and strengthen their abilities
