Jordan

Introduction

Jordan is a country of diversity with the capacity to provide endless adventure. We’ve travelled to the four corners of Jordan and know it to be a country filled with wonder. Imagine riding a camel across the red sand desert of Wadi rum, or reading a book whilst floating in the Dead Sea, exploring the hidden city of Petra or diving in the stunning Red sea.

Your adventure in Jordan can be tailored to consist of one, or a combination of the adventurous activities listed below to your specifications and length of trip.  All activities are suitable for school team/youth groups and adults alike!

Due to its size, the fact that it is relatively close to the United Kingdom and that it is literally packed with interesting sites makes Jordan an ideal location for shorter duration schools development expeditions. With our knowledge of Jordan and the assistance of our in-country agents we have the ability to bespoke your expedition and can vary the degree of student leadership to suit your needs. For younger groups this is a great location.

At this time we are researching a community project within the Wadi Rhum region of Jordan entitled ‘behind the veil’ with a view to supporting the development of the role of Jordanian women in their society.

Once again we have great contacts in this area and will be updating this site and ‘latest news’ as this project develops. It will be ideal for female student’s teams wishing to visit Jordan!

Jordan is home to an array of Historical and cultural sites and many areas of stunning natural beauty. Amman, the countries capital city, in addition to hosting its own historical sites is also ideally placed is a central location from which to visit all the other locations of interest.

Wadi Rhum

The archetypal desert landscape, beautiful and mesmeric. It’s worth visiting the desert just for the day but combined with an overnight stay in a genuine Bedouin campsite, cooked for by tribesman and entertained in the traditional manner it really is a wonderful experience.

Jerash and Umm Qais

These are superbly well preserved examples of Middle Eastern Roman city and town, compact and accessible. Take an afternoon or early morning to wander through these well preserved buildings and let your imagination run wild. From Umm Qais it’s extremely interesting to be able to look clearly over Jordan’s borders into Syria, the Golan Heights and the Sea of Galilee.

Dead Sea

You must have all seen the photographs of swimmers…well hardly swimming in the highly saline Dead Sea, book in one hand and cool drink in the other. The border between Israel and Jordan runs directly through the centre of the lake that is becoming more and more saline making visitors more and more buoyant. Great fun and a must unless you happen to dive in head first!! Not to be recommended!!!

Petra

It’s often said that if you were to only visit one of Jordan’s many historic sites, and there are many, then make it Petra. A world heritage site since 1985 its enormous facades, hewn from solid rock are a wondrous spectacle and testament to the Nabatean Nation. Arriving slowly through the rock canyons only metres wide and hundreds of metres high in some places, visitors are treated to the immediate and magnificent Treasury before passing into the depths of the settlement.
