On arrival teams move immediately to Paha Ganj, one of Delhi’s most vibrant suburbs. Whilst recovering from the long flight and preparing for the trek, we’ll have a chance to immerse ourselves in everyday life within one of India’s largest cities. We will be located within easy walking distance of New Delhi rail station from where we head north to the Himalaya.
The city is home to many lost children who use any means possible to survive. We actively support their chances by taking the street kid tour organised by Salam Balaak, a charity funded by one of Bollywood’s most famous directors. This fascinating tour is led by one of the street kids who survived, was educated through Salaam Balaak made it to adulthood and has returned to educate us and, in doing so help his brothers and sisters.
