Whitewater rafting in Nepal
Sun Kosi Rafting Expedition, Nepal
This 270km trip down the Sunkosi (River of Gold) is regarded as one of the top 10 rafting journeys on the planet. Starting at the put-in near Dolalghat, close to the Tibetan border you’ll spend 5-7 hours a day paddling through beautiful, diverse landscapes including narrow gorges, jungle and small villages until you reach the take-out near Chatra on the edge of the Eastern Terai – 8 days later.
At the end of each day’s paddling you’ll camp on a beautiful white sandy beach, sometimes near local villages and enjoy meals freshly prepared by your cook team. After dinner you can pass the time around the campfire, watching the stars and the local wildlife.
Following the short flight back to Kathmandu you’ll spend a couple of nights in the Kathmandu Guest House and have the opportunity to visit the world-renowned sights the city has to offer including Swayambunath (The Monkey Temple), Kathmandu Durbar Square and Pashuputinath, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Venture Force have been delivering life-changing, bucket list expeditions in Nepal to both adult and student groups for almost ten years. The mix of ancient culture, breath-taking views, huge choice of itineraries and the amazing friendliness of the people, ensures that Nepal is a country that you’ll want to return to over and over again. One visit just isn’t enough – we know!
Embrace the difference and remember the unique experience!
This is an expedition in a developing country, not your normal holiday. Expect be totally immersed (no pun intended) in the local culture in a remote part of the world completely unlike the UK. You’ll be camping for 7 consecutive nights with very limited access to electricity and normal home comforts. However, this is likely to be a once in a lifetime experience that will stay with you for the rest of your days and change your outlook in many different ways.
