Something about the country

The Altai of Siberia is one of the last great wilderness regions of the world made up of vast plains, mile after mile of trees and a formidable mountain range. Our trek takes us through a remote expanse consisting of mountain passes, foaming glacial rivers and stunning waterfalls.

Bordering with China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan the Altai region has a lengthy history and thus a fascinating cultural background with a large proportion defined as a UNESCO world site.

Climate
You may be suprised to learn that along with the viscioulsy cold and extreme winters the Atlai expereiences a remarkably warm summer period where temperature can range between 0-10c on the mountain ridges to a balmy 15-20c in the valleys and meadows. Such variation in climate produces the lusch meadows and mountain pasture that we love so much.
